The project

Summary of the main objectives of the Jean Monnet "Business Law in the European Union and Sustainable Economy" Chair - BLEUSE

The Jean Monnet BLEUSE Chair is the first initiative established by the EU Commission at the University of Macerata since its foundation.

The BLEUSE project offers a comprehensive educational package that encompasses courses and supplementary learning activities. It also offers research opportunities, primarily through participation in national and international conferences. All these activities are centred around a holistic approach to sustainability.

The project covers multiple subjects, extending beyond the legal field. In addition to its focal point on business law, which is explored in its domestic, European, and international dimensions, the initiative also includes activities in ethics and moral philosophy, applied economics, history, as well as constitutional law, administrative law, agri-food law, and comparative private law. Further interdisciplinary activities will be integrated throughout the duration of the project.

This strong interdisciplinary approach encompasses the environmental, social, and governance aspects of sustainability in every activity. The Chair's Key Teaching Staff is both interdisciplinary and international, aligning with this approach.

The primary goal of the project is to raise awareness among students, public officials, professionals, and the general public about the European Union and its impact on sustainability. Additionally, the project offers a tailored programme for secondary school teachers to cultivate a conscious European citizenship in their students.

The BLEUSE project will expand career prospects for students through its interdisciplinary study of Europe and its relationship with sustainability, a crucial topic nowadays. Students will also engage with various stakeholder representatives involved in the Chair's activities. Beyond reaching the general public, the Chair aims to involve local and regional policymakers and business organizations to promote awareness about sustainability and the necessary expertise for implementing sustainable initiatives and regulatory measures.

The Chair disseminates its results through press releases, social media platforms such as YouTube, Facebook, and Twitter, this website, the University’s radio station (Radio RUM), and specific events like SHARPER - The European Researchers' Night, as well as seminars, webinars, and the final international conference.

Teaching materials can be accessed via the Merlot open education platform.
