SUSTAINABILITY

With the adoption by the United Nations of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development, governments, institutions, organizations and individuals, belonging to any country or sector of activity, are invited to change their development models, paying attention to sustainability in their daily decisions.

17 obiettivi

Description: the 17 Sustainable Development Goals contained within the 2030 Agenda.

The concept of sustainability today represents one of the key concepts and the new challenge to face in order to achieve excellence. Specifically, sustainability takes the concrete form of environmental sustainability, aimed therefore at reducing the impact on the reference context, economic sustainability, aimed at prospering in an ever more dynamic way, and finally social sustainability, characterized by the intent to create bonds between organizations in the same territory.

The sustainable objectives are completely in line with the efforts put in place and the strategies activated by the educational institutions with a view to the Third Mission, therefore characterized by a significant commitment to social, civic and environmental issues.

Through the role of co-creation, the Department is seeking to make sustainable development a reality by working with society and driving transformations in the city and in local or regional community.

On the subject of pursuing sustainability, the following projects are worth mentioning: Sustainable Innovation Lab, coordinator prof. Angela Cossi and Jean Monnet Chair "Business Law in the European Union and Sustainable Economy", Chair holder prof. Alessio Bartolacelli.

The principle of sustainability - coined internationally in the 1970s and translated in 2015 into the 17 goals of the UN 2030 Agenda - has a multifaceted meaning in the Italian Constitution. It can be linked to the rules of public finance and the budget, to fundamental rights, to the environment, to society. The seminar will explore the main interpretations of the principle and its connections. The goal is to help participants use sustainability as a kind of interpretative concept, useful in many fields of law, and beyond.

The legislator has expressly provided that every legally relevant human activity must conform to the principle of sustainable development, in order to ensure that the legitimate satisfaction of the needs of current generations cannot compromise the quality of life and the possibilities of future generations.

In this context, fiscal policies can play a decisive role. The correct use of the fiscal lever can, in fact, guide virtuous behaviors in the perspective of sustainable development (which many still continue to consider an oxymoron).

With the adoption of the 2030 Agenda on Sustainable Development Goals, the General Assembly in 2015 called on all Member States, intergovernmental organizations and civil society to cooperate to eliminate poverty and introduce better living conditions on a global scale, setting an agenda of the main steps to be taken. At an initial assessment ten years after the set deadline, the need arises to make the action undertaken more effective, with the involvement of all the players both globally and in national and local situations.

The seminars of the 'Forum on Sustainable Development' are accredited with 1 CFU for students of the degree course in Law (LMG / 01) who will participate in all three events.
