Call for International Agreements Initiatives
CONFERENCE INITIATIVES FOR CONDUCTING RESEARCH WITHIN THE FRAMEWORK OF INTERNATIONAL COOPERATION AGREEMENTS AND THE DEPARTMENT OF EXCELLENCE PROGRAM
As part of the implementation process of the Department of Excellence program titled: "Law and Innovation: Europe and China Facing the Challenges of Globalization," funding will be provided for proposals of conference and seminar initiatives for conducting scientific research, linked to high-level teaching, to be held in Macerata within the activities of active international cooperation agreements at the Department of Law.
For this purpose, an annual budget of 8,000 euros will be allocated based on specific proposals. These proposals must be submitted at least 4 months in advance of the event date to the Governance Committee, which will decide at the next available meeting after submission. Individual proposals may be funded up to a maximum of 4,000 euros.
Requests may be submitted by the coordinator of the international agreement or by another professor or researcher from the Department of Law, provided the coordinator is involved in the scientific committee.
The initiatives may involve, in addition to professors and researchers from the Department of Law, doctoral students, research fellows, and PhD graduates who collaborate on research at the same Department, as well as professors and researchers from other Italian or foreign universities or research institutions.
The expenses may cover incoming mobility, accommodation, food, organization, translation, linguistic revision, and publication costs.
At the conclusion of the funded initiative, within 30 days, the proposer will submit a scientific report and financial statement to the Department Director. If there are publication expenses, they must be incurred within 12 months of the conclusion of the initiative. Any extensions for publication expenses beyond this deadline must be requested from the Governance Committee of the "Department of Excellence" project.
The proposed initiatives must focus on issues that are consistent and relevant to the Department of Excellence program. They must also aim to produce a positive impact on research quality indicators within the Department's established objectives, which are subject to annual monitoring.
To this end, some requirements must be met, and the verification is entrusted to the UO Research and Internationalization of the Department, which reports to the Department Director:
- Quality of publications: The proposer must have obtained a score higher than the Department of Law's average in the VTR survey for the last three years (2015, 2016, 2017).
- Interdisciplinarity: The proposed initiatives must involve scholars, including those from the department, from at least three scientific-disciplinary sectors and at least two macro-scientific-disciplinary sectors of Area 12; at least one scholar from other scientific-disciplinary areas.
- Research group and international and national reference networks: The scientific committee organizing the initiatives must include at least one scholar from each Partner Institution of the agreement.
- Interaction between research networks and PhD program: At least some of the proposed research initiatives must involve the PhD program in legal sciences.
- Completeness of the application: The form must be fully completed, or it will be excluded.
Once these preliminary requirements are met, the Governance Committee will conduct a merit-based evaluation based on the following criteria. In case of a positive evaluation, the Committee will submit the proposals for approval by the Department of Law, which will decide on the funding.
Criteria for Merit-Based Evaluation of Proposals:
- Scientific Quality:
