1. BOARD OF THE DEPARTMENT OF LAW, DIRECTOR, BOARD OF MANAGEMENT, DEPUTIES FOR RESEARCH AND INTERNATIONALISATION ACTIVITIES

The Board of the Department of Law is the “sovereign” body with general deliberative competencies in research matters. According to article 30 of the University Statute, the Board has the power to decide upon the Department research strategy, upon the planning of research activities, upon the approval of the annual report on didactic and research activities, upon research quality assurance.

The Director chairs the Board and takes care of the Department efficient operating, according to the planning approved by the Board, prepares the annual report on the didactic and research activities, and supervises the quality systems of the Department.

The Board of Management, as far as research activities are concerned, supports decisions related to the granting of funding for organising conferences and seminars and for awarding the title of Visiting Professor, Visiting Researcher, Visiting Fellow.

The Deputies for Research and Internationalisation Activities support the Director in the above-described activities, promote initiatives directed to raise awareness in the Department colleagues that path of research of excellence must be pursued at national and international level. The Deputies, moreover, guarantee the liaison with the Table that coordinates the research and internationalisation activities of the University.

 

2. RESEARCH AND INTERNATIONALISATION OFFICE

The U.O. Research and Internationalisation with Decree of the General Director No. 20 1st March 2019 modifying the internal organization of the University saw its name changed into: Research and Internationalisation Office.

The Office carries on activities which support the planning, management and reporting of research projects funded by the University of Macerata, the Italian Ministry of Education, University and Research, European Commission, or by other international Agencies, or by other public or private bodies.

The Office carries on, moreover, activities which support: the signing of international agreements with other bodies (getting in touch with, managing relations, common initiatives, cooperation), the institution of research workshops and centres, both departmental and interdepartmental, preliminary activities for preparing paperwork, documents and resolutions regarding the research and internationalisation sectors which have to be submitted to the approval of the Department and University ruling bodies. The office supports the Committee for the Departmental Research and the Group for Reviewing the Department research policy, and takes part in the University Table for coordinating research and internationalisation activities.

3. COMMITTEE FOR DEPARTMENTAL RESEARCH

Owing to the imminent institution of the Committee for Departmental Research, the Board of the Department of Law instituted a Table for departmental research, meant for supporting the Director in his actions for planning, coordinating and enhancing research activities in keeping with the general aims of the University. With the same resolution of 17 December 2014 the Deputy for assuring the Department quality, the Supervisor for assuring the quality of Department research activities, the Manager for assuring the quality of Department research activities (Organisational Unit Research and Internationalisation) have been appointed.

With the resolution of 11th February 2015, the Department better defined the system for its future policy of quality of departmental research, further specifying bodies, duties and responsibilities. More precisely, the Department, in order to guarantee greater efficaciousness and transparency of the procedures for enhancing and monitoring the research quality, intends to provide itself with a Committee for Departmental Research, instead of the Table for departmental research, and with a Group for Reviewing the Department Research Policy.

The Committee for Departmental Research is made of: Director; Vice-Director; Deputies for Research and Internationalisation Activities; Deputy for assuring the Department quality of research activities; four Professors chosen by the Director on the basis of the scientific areas of the disciplines taught in the Department. Institutional representatives can be invited when discussing themes referring to research quality (Group for Reviewing the Department Research Policy, other departmental deputies or University deputies, etc.).

The current composition of the Committee is as follows:

- Director of the Department: Prof. Stefano Pollastrelli;

- Vice-Director: Prof. Massimo Meccarelli;

- Deputy for assuring the Department quality of research activities: Prof. Monica Stronati;

- Deputies for Research and Internationalisation Activities: Prof. Alessio Bartolacelli e Prof. Fabrizio Marongiu Buonaiuti;

- four Professors chosen by the Director on the basis of the scientific areas of the disciplines taught in the Department: Prof. Andrea Caligiuri; Prof. Claudia Cesari, Prof. Tiziana Montecchiari, Prof. Francesca Spigarelli.

The Committee carries on the following tasks:

  • it supports the Director in planning and coordinating those actions aimed at developing scientific research (in this respect, it formulates proposals to the Board of the Department) and in elaborating the annual and plurennial planning of research activities, including the proposal of qualitative criteria of merit for the distribution of Department funds;
  • it helps the Director and the Group for Reviewing the Department research policy in the elaboration of the Annual and Plurennial Reports on Research Activities;
  • it submits, to the Board of the Department of Law, the annual and plurennial Reviews on Departmental Research Activities;
  • it receives the proposals for funding the initiatives prepared by professors and research groups and proposes, to the Board of the Department of Law, the granting of available funds (particularly those coming from the Quota Variabile 2).

 

4. DEPUTY FOR ASSURING THE DEPARTMENT QUALITY OF RESEARCH ACTIVITIES

The Deputy for assuring the Department quality of research activities, appointed by the Director, carries on the following tasks:

  • he/she promotes, guides, monitors and verifies the efficaciousness of the activities for assuring the quality of the departmental research activity;
  • he/she cooperates on filling the SUA-RD form in;
  • he/she cooperates, as member of the Committee for Departmental Research, on drawing the Annual and Triennial Report of the Department Research activities;
  • he/she cooperates, as member of the Group for Reviewing the Department Research Policy, on drawing the Annual and Cyclic (triennial) Reviews on Departmental Research Activities;
  • he/she promotes any other initiative aimed at the improvement of research activities, making sure of highlighting them in the quality-assurance procedures;
  • he/she guarantees the correct information flow between the University Quality Assurance Unit and the Department;
  • he/she coordinates internal audits.

 

5. GROUP FOR REVIEWING THE DEPARTMENT RESEARCH POLICY

The Group for Reviewing the Department Research Policy is made of: Deputies for Research and Internationalisation Activities, Deputy for assuring the Department quality of research activities, Manager of the Office Research and Internationalisation.

The current composition of the Committee is as follows:

- Deputy for assuring the Department quality of research activities: Prof. Monica Stronati;

- Deputies for Research and Internationalisation Activities: Prof. Arianna Alpini and Prof. Fabrizio Marongiu Buonaiuti;

- Manager of the Office Research and Internationalisation: Dr. Antonella Bettoni.

The Group carries on the following tasks:

  • draws the Annual Reviews on Departmental Research Activities;
  • draws the Triennial Reviews on Departmental Research Activities;
  • carries on the monitoring of the actions established for attaining research objectives.
